TL;DR
- We publish no unit price for a pizza box and we are not going to invent one: every pizza box quote on this site starts with four inputs — board construction, liner, print coverage and order quantity.
- Of the 16 pizza box styles we list, 10 name an aluminium foil or insulated liner in the title; the other 6 are plain printed board, the cheaper route if you are not delivering hot food.
- Sampling runs 7 days and mass production 15 days from artwork and die approval, and a quote stays valid 7 days. None of those replaces the size and quantity on your order.
A buyer opens a pizza box page with one question: what does it cost per unit? That number is assembled from four inputs on our side and two decisions on yours. Here is what our 16 pizza box styles publish, what they deliberately do not publish, and what we need in writing before a figure means anything.
What our pizza box pages publish, and what they do not
The pizza box range lists 16 styles across two catalogue pages. Every one carries the same structured fields: paper type (kraft paper, paperboard, corrugated), box type (folders), custom size accepted, and one seven-step list of print and finishing processes. The range description ends with the phrase that matters most for cost — quoted to your artwork, size and board grade. The same field set is what you will find on the food and beverage box spec sheet for the wider range.
What no pizza box page publishes is a unit price, and no page publishes one MOQ figure for the whole range. A cost figure that reaches you without a die size, a board grade and a quantity did not come from this site. If you need a firm unit price before the die size and the quantity are fixed, we would rather not give you one: a quote built on guessed inputs is a quote we cannot hold, and it wastes both sides' time when the die comes back different.
The four inputs behind a pizza box quote
| Input | What this site publishes | Why it moves unit cost |
|---|---|---|
| Board construction | Kraft paper, paperboard and corrugated are the three paper types listed on all 16 styles; flute and board weight are not published per style | A corrugated wall uses more fibre than a single paperboard panel, so the sheet is usually the largest line on the quote |
| Liner | 10 of the 16 styles (62.5%) name an aluminium foil or insulated liner in the product title | A second material plus a lining step, on top of the board |
| Print and finishing | 7 processes listed on every style: matt lamination, varnishing, stamping, embossing, glossy lamination, UV coating, gold foil | Each pass adds set-up and material; full coverage costs more than a one-colour logo |
| Die size and shape | Custom Size Accepted on 16 styles; 12 of the 16 pages (75%) state 6-inch single-slice up to 18-inch family size | A larger blank uses more board per box, and trim waste changes with the shape |
| Order quantity | No MOQ published for this range; elsewhere on the site corrugated cartons state a general order quantity of 500 pcs | Plates, make-ready and the die are fixed costs that spread across the run |
| Sampling | 7 days from artwork and die approval | A charged step in the schedule, not a discount |
| Mass production | 15 days from artwork and die approval | Sets the date you must commit, and which freight window you can still catch |
| Quote validity | 7 days from the date we issue the quote | Board price and freight move; a stale quote is not a price |
The liner is the line item you can drop
Ten of the 16 styles are built around a liner. Our foil-lined pages, such as the insulated foil-lined container, describe an air gap behind the foil as the heat barrier — that is what keeps a delivered pizza warm and keeps steam off the crust. It also costs: a second material in the wall and a lining step in production.
If your pizza is eaten within minutes of the counter, or your delivery radius is a short walk, the liner is the first thing we would take out of the quote, and we will say so rather than leave it in. The unlined side of the range is real product, not a downgrade: the 12-inch hexagon box, the triangle slice box, the 3D box with a carry handle and the multi-layer drawer box all ship without a liner. One caveat: foil against board is a mixed-material pack, and mixed-material packs sit awkwardly with recyclability requirements in several markets. If your compliance team asks about material composition, raise it at enquiry stage — it changes which style we quote, not just the price.

Size, die and the waste you pay for
All 16 styles read Custom Size Accepted, so nothing here is a fixed catalogue size. Twelve of the product pages state a working envelope from 6-inch single-slice boxes up to 18-inch family size; the hexagon box is listed at 6 to 12 inch and the slice box is a triangle.
When I set up a pizza box job, the first two numbers I write down are the blank size and the sheet width. A 6-inch slice box and an 18-inch family box do not scale linearly: the die is different, the number of blanks nested on the sheet is different, and the trim offcut changes with both. On triangular and hexagonal dies our experience is that trim per sheet runs higher than a square die of the same area, which is why a slice box is not simply a cheap small box. Send the inner dimensions you want to pack, and the die drawing if you have one; without them every price is a range, not a quote.

Order quantity, set-up and the 500-piece line
No pizza box style on this site publishes an MOQ, so we will not quote a range-wide number. What the site publishes elsewhere is the carton line: 72 product pages, including the wax-coated cartons and other ranges under food and beverage boxes, carry the sentence “the general order quantity for a product is 500 pieces”. Quantity is where the fixed costs live: plates, make-ready and the die are paid once and spread across the run, so the same box costs different amounts at 500 pcs and at 5,000 pcs. If a supplier offers 300 boxes at a lower unit price than 3,000, look at what else changed in the specification, because the fixed costs did not. We confirm the MOQ for your style, size and structure in writing, and if a quantity is too low for the die and the print set-up to carry sensibly, we say so instead of quietly changing the board.
Timing: 7 days, 15 days, 7 days
Sampling takes 7 days and mass production 15 days, both counted from the point where artwork and the die are approved — not from the day the enquiry lands. A quote is valid 7 days from issue, because board grades and freight do not sit still. Those are the numbers we work to and the ones that appear on your order confirmation; where a page or a chat message gives you something different, the written confirmation on your order is the one that binds.
Food contact paperwork: printed on the page, or sent with the order
In the United States, substances used as components of the food-contact surface of paper and paperboard that touch fatty foods are regulated under 21 CFR 176.170 (eCFR, checked 30 Sep 2026). In the EU, food contact materials must comply with Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and be manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice, Commission Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006; the Commission's own page notes that where there is no specific Union measure for a material — paper and board among them — national provisions apply as well, so the answer can differ by member state (European Commission, Food contact materials, checked 30 Sep 2026).
Our pizza box pages carry a food-contact statement. They do not carry certificate numbers, and we are not going to type one in to make the page look complete. If your QA team needs a declaration, a migration statement or a test report for the style you are quoting, ask for it by style and size; if we cannot provide the document for that construction, we will say so before you order rather than after. A grease-resistant surface is exactly the kind of specification that should be confirmed on paper, not from a web page.
Questions we get on pizza box quotes
What is the unit price of a 12-inch pizza box? We do not publish one, and a single number would mislead: price moves with board construction, liner, print coverage and quantity. Send those four and we will quote a specific figure, valid 7 days.
What is the MOQ for custom pizza boxes? There is no range-wide figure on this site. MOQ is set per style, size and structure; the 500 pcs line belongs to the carton ranges, not to the 16 pizza box styles. Tell us the style and the quantity you plan and we will confirm in writing.
Do I need the foil-lined version? Only if you deliver and need heat retention. Counter service or short local delivery is better served by plain printed board, which removes a material and a production step.
Can you price it before I have a die drawing? We can tell you which inputs move the number, and which style is cheaper and why. A firm unit price needs the die size, the board, the print coverage and the quantity.
Which sizes can you make? Every style accepts a custom size. The pages state a working envelope from 6-inch single-slice to 18-inch family size, the hexagon box is listed at 6 to 12 inch, and the slice box is a slice format. Irregular shapes are quoted from the die, so send dimensions rather than the pizza diameter alone.
Which finishing options are on the table? Seven processes across the range: matt lamination, varnishing, stamping, embossing, glossy lamination, UV coating and gold foil, on top of CMYK or Pantone printing. Each is a separate pass and a separate cost line.
How long until the boxes leave your factory? 7 days for sampling and 15 days for mass production, both from artwork and die approval. If you have a fixed sailing date, tell us at enquiry stage: the approval date decides whether that sailing is realistic.
